Will my SSI check come early in June 2024?

SSI benefits are paid on the 1st of each month, with some exceptions. If the 1st lands on a weekend or federal holiday, payment is sent on the preceding business day.

Since June 1st is on a weekend, the June SSI benefit is actually paid on May 31st, the previous Friday.

This means that there is no SSI payment in June 2024 since recipients were paid twice in May 2024.

About Exceptions

There can be payment exceptions if the payment date lands on a weekend or federal holiday.

Federal Holiday Exception: If your SSDI payment date lands on a Federal holiday, benefits will be paid one day earlier.

Weekend Exception: For SSI payments, if the 1st of the month lands on a weekend, the SSI payment will be sent on the previous business day. This means that sometimes you can receive two SSI payments in the same month (and the next month will be skipped).

Claims Filed Before May 1997: Recipients who filed for benefits before May 1997 are paid on the 3rd of each month. For this group, the birth date is not used to determine the payment date.

Receiving Both SSDI and SSI: If you are receiving both SSDI and SSI, your SSDI benefit is paid on the 3rd of the month, and your SSI payment is paid on the 1st.
