Why We Like Ziply Fiber

photo of a happy family at home using Ziply Fiber

Fiber internet reigns supreme over traditional types of internet, like cable and DSL. However, few providers fully leverage the impressive speeds and reliability of fiber internet quite like Ziply Fiber.

Ziply Fiber is a newer fiber internet company, but it distinguishes itself from the competition by offering some of the highest speeds in the nation. The company’s 50 Gbps plan is the fastest internet plan in America.

But, not everyone needs (or wants to pay for) absurdly fast speeds. With Ziply, you don’t have to. The company offers multiple fiber internet plan tiers to suit everyone’s internet usage needs and budget.

📊 With Ziply Fiber’s no-contract plans, customers can enjoy high-speed internet without an expensive commitment.

All of Ziply’s internet plans are contract-free and include unlimited data. Their introductory rates are some of the cheapest among fiber internet providers. While most Ziply Fiber plans become more expensive after one year of service, their pricing remains competitive.

The biggest downside to Ziply Fiber is its limited geographical reach. It is only available in select areas of 4 Northwestern states, but the company has plans to continue expansion.

Ziply Fiber Internet

All Ziply Fiber internet plans include symmetrical upload and download speeds – a benefit of fiber internet over cable, satellite, and DSL. Ziply also offers no data caps, no annual contracts, and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Specific plans and actual speeds depend on the area you live in.

It’s important to note that the prices listed below for Fiber 100/100, Fiber 300/300, Fiber Gig, and Fiber 2 Gig are Ziply’s introductory rates for one year. After the 12-month introductory period is up, you will be switched over to standard rates.

Prices also include enrollment in paperless billing and autopay. There is an option to receive a paper bill for an extra $5 per month or manually pay for service for an additional $5 fee each month.

Fiber 100/100 – $20/month

Ziply Fiber’s most economical plan gives you 100 Mbps symmetrical upload and download speeds. It is a great option for households that just need the basics, like internet browsing and streaming on 2-3 devices. This plan also includes free professional installation.

For the first 12 months, this budget-friendly plan costs $20 per month. After the introductory period, standard rates are $45 per month.

Fiber 300/300 – $40/month

Designed for users with high-capacity internet demands, this plan upgrades your upload and download speeds to 300 Mbps. These speeds are great for streaming in HD or working from home on multiple devices and playing online games.

Like the 100 Mbps plan, the 300 Mbps plan includes free professional installation. After the $40 per month introductory period is over, standard rates for this plan are $65 per month.

Fiber Gig – $60/month

Fiber Gig is Ziply Fiber’s most popular plan. It includes 1 Gbps, or 1 Gig, symmetrical upload and download speeds. You get free professional installation and upload speeds up to 25x faster than cable internet.

After 12 months, this plan goes up in price from $60 per month to $85 per month.

Fiber 2 Gig – $70/month

Much like the 1 Gig plan, the 2 Gig plan gives you blazing-fast internet speeds and includes free professional installation. You get 2 Gig upload and download speeds, so you don’t have to worry about buffering or slowdowns even during peak usage times.

This plan costs $90 per month after the 1-year introductory period of $70 per month.

Fiber 5 Gig – $120/month

The Fiber 5 Gig plan is where things start to enter insanely fast territory. With 5 Gig symmetrical upload and download speeds, this plan is for individuals and households that want to experience some of the fastest speeds fiber has to offer. It also includes free professional installation.

Fiber 5 Gig costs a flat $120 per month. This is not an introductory price and will not go up after 1 year.

Fiber Internet 10 Gig – $300/month

If 5 Gig still isn’t enough for you, you can upgrade to 10 Gig internet speeds. This is the fastest home internet plan anywhere in the Northwestern United States.

If you want this plan, you will have to pay a one-time $300 professional installation fee. Like Fiber 5 Gig, the 10 Gig plan does not have an introductory period.

Fiber Internet 50 Gig – $900/month

In some areas, Ziply Fiber offers a ridiculously fast 50 Gig (upload and download speeds) plan. This is the fastest internet plan of any fiber internet provider in the entire United States and costs a flat $900 per month (no introductory period.) It has a $600 professional installation fee.

Ziply Internet (DSL) – $50/month

In addition to its range of fiber internet plans, Ziply also has one DSL plan, primarily for rural customers who do not have access to their fiber network.

Ziply’s DSL plan gives you up to 115 Mbps download speeds with up to 7 Mbps upload speeds. Like Ziply’s fiber internet plans, the DSL plan is contract-free and has unlimited data. After the 12-month introductory period, this plan goes up in price to $60 per month.

Equipment

photo of Ziply Fiber devices

Fiber internet requires a special kind of modem to work, known as an Optical Terminal Network (ONT). You will also need a router, and some larger homes may also need a WiFi extender for whole-home coverage.

An ONT connects you to the internet like a modem but works differently. Instead of converting digital signals to analog like a modem, an ONT sends data through fiber optic cables in the form of tiny pulses of light. An ONT is included with Ziply service, and a technician will set it up during your installation appointment.

💡 Ziply Fiber includes an Optical Terminal Network (ONT) with its service, which uses light to transmit data.

To use WiFi on multiple devices in your home, you will need to connect a router via an ethernet cable to your ONT. You can bring your own router, which must be compatible with multi-gig speeds. Ziply Fiber recommends the ASUS AX6000 WiFi (RT-AX89X).

If you don’t have a router, you can lease one from Ziply Fiber. Ziply’s router uses WiFi 6 technology and is optimized to give you the fastest internet speeds. Keep an eye out for promotional offers –new customers can often get a Ziply Fiber router for free by signing up for a gig-speed plan.

If you live in a large home, you might also need a WiFi extender to ensure every room in your household gets coverage. Extenders boost WiFi signals from your router to areas of your home that the router itself cannot reach. You can purchase Whole Home WiFi to have a technician expertly install extenders in the best locations of your home.

Installation

After you sign up for Ziply Fiber, you will need to schedule an appointment for a technician to visit your home and install your equipment. Professional installation is free for most Ziply Fiber plans, except for 10 Gig, which costs $300, and 50 Gig, which costs $600.

🛠️ Professional installation services ensure that you’ll enjoy the performance of your Ziply Fiber internet from the start.

On the day before your appointment, Ziply Fiber will send you a text reminder. On the day of, your technician will call on the way to your home and once again upon arrival. An adult must be on the premises and available to communicate with the technician.

Installation typically takes 4-6 hours to complete. Your technician will bring all the needed equipment with them. Most installations will be finished after a single home visit, but a second visit might be needed if additional wiring is required.

Other Services

Whole Home WiFi – $20/month

illustration of a house with whole-home WiFi

For $20 per month, you can add Ziply Whole Home WiFi to your internet plan. This add-on includes a Ziply Fiber WiFi 6 Router and mesh networking system to ensure your WiFi connection covers every room in your home.

An installer will visit your home and find the best location to set up your WiFi router for optimal coverage. If needed, the technician will also install a mesh extender to make sure there are no dead zones.
