Yes, 1000 Mbps is a fast internet speed in 2024. Especially if you regularly need a lot of bandwidth. But what can you do with such speeds at your place?
With gigabit internet, you can perform all the possible activities. But is 1000 Mbps worth it for everyone? Is it overkill for day-to-day use at home or the office? Who should opt for the 1 Gig internet? To answer all such queries, I subscribed to Xfinity Gigabit and used it for one month to observe and share my thoughts.

The Gigabit internet can handle a lot of processes. But it’s not ideal for everyone. It also may be overkill for many. So, if you’re not sure, use my tool and determine what internet speed you need based on your inputs on the number of users, devices, etc.
For example, 50 Mbps download speed and 10 Mbps upload speed are more than enough for working from home, and you may not need such a high speed. So choose wisely. That said, I shall now touch upon some of the most common questions.
Is 1000 Mbps Good for Gaming?
Yes, an internet speed of 1000 Mbps is more than enough for gaming, no matter how small or large the game file is.
For example, Xbox gaming generally requires a download speed of 3 Mbps and an upload speed of 1.5 Mbps. This means most games can be run with an internet speed of as low as 10 Mbps.
Going by these figures, a 1000 Mbps internet speed can allow you as many as 100 gaming sessions.
High-end games like Call Of Duty pack size of 231GB, which is huge, but with the 1000 Mbps plan, you can easily download the game in 33 Minutes or less. Now, this is amazing; what are your thoughts?
In the case of mid-end games like Dirt Rally, Need For Speed, etc., the internet speed of 1000 Mbps allows you with much better gaming experience.

But imagine, if you live with more than 9 people, then a gigabit speed would mean everyone getting decent speeds. Furthermore, YouTube videos require even less speed, so you can stream up to 200 HD videos on the app.
Undoubtedly, it is. Netflix requires a bandwidth of 25 Mbps which can easily be achieved with the 1000 Mbps internet plan.
