Aptive Plans: Pro+ vs Premium

Aptive provides year-round pest services for residential customers. All services include both interior and exterior treatment. However, it can be difficult to get a good sense of Aptive’s plan options from its website – it’s only when you enter details of your home and start the quote process that you learn about the two plans that are offered: Pro+ and Premium.

Both these packages require an annual contract, and both break down their services into an Initial and Standard treatment. At least one re-visit will be necessary because the first treatment won’t affect insect eggs or larvae and a technician will need to return anywhere from 20 to 40 days later to retreat for this.

🐝 Special services like wasp nest and spider web removal are included in both Pro+ and Premium plans.

Both the Pro+ and Premium options include all rooms inside of the home (note that this only includes attic spaces that have fully finished flooring), interior monitoring, and perimeter treatment of the main floor and basement of the house. On the exterior, Aptive will treat the eaves, the perimeter of the home, and the yard (which includes using bait treatment). The company will also remove wasp nests and webs.

Pro+

This is a year-round service plan that provides treatments every 30 to 60 days in the warmer months and every 50 to 80 days in the colder months. The treatment targets the most common pests including pantry pests, outdoor rodents, and snails, slugs, and aphids. Your technician will treat the eaves, foundation, interior and exterior, provide free re-service visits, and set indoor fly traps and outdoor wasp traps.

Premium

Like the Pro+ service, Premium also gives customers year-round pest control support providing treatments every 20 to 40 days in the warmer months and every 50 to 80 days in the colder months. In addition to the services listed for the Pro+ program, the Premium program also treats mosquitos.

You may have an option for a one-time treatment that can be effective for some homeowners, but most will need ongoing treatment. If you’re interested in having Aptive treat your home once, you should contact a representative to see if this is available.

Aptive’s website makes it easy for homeowners to enter basic details about where they live and get pricing information quickly. In some cases, you may have to (or wish to) speak with a representative first before getting an estimate. We requested a quote for a home located in Portland, OR, and at the time the quote was received the advertised price for the Pro+ service was $399 for the initial service and $219 for the standard treatment, but there are usually discounts and promotions that can significantly lower starting costs.

Aptive stands by their work and if you’re not satisfied, a technician will come back as many times as are needed free of charge to ensure your pest problem is under control. The company also has a referral program where existing customers can earn credits of $50 to $100 on their account or rewards for recommending a new client for service.

Is Aptive Safe?

Aptive only uses pest control products that have been approved by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). These pesticides effectively control pest populations while also being safe for humans and pets. Additionally, Aptive is a member of the EPA’s Pesticide Environmental Stewardship Program, further strengthening its commitment to risk reduction in pesticide use.

🌱 Aptive uses EPA-approved pest control products to ensure treatments are safe for humans and pets while still effectively managing pest populations.

That said, many customers who have young children or pets may wish to stay out of the house during treatment for two to three hours. With every treatment, your technician will review any safety concerns with you and advise you on the best way to keep your family and pets protected during the pesticide application. The company also provides a comprehensive list of all the products they use that contains information about the ingredients, precautions, and potential environmental hazards.

How Does Aptive Compare?

Although Aptive isn’t available in every state and doesn’t treat as many pests as some competitors, it can still be a good choice for some homeowners who are looking for recurring pest control services. Aptive does focus on using safer pesticides and is an EPA partner, which can be a selling point for many eco-conscious homeowners.

Is Aptive Worth It?

photo of an Aptive Environmental technician

Aptive is a relatively young company when compared with other giants in the industry like Terminix and Orkin, so they just don’t have the track record of service that their more seasoned competitors will. Furthermore, Aptive is only available in 30 states, so a good portion of the country won’t be able to use its services. However, the company’s focus on using an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approach has made it a popular choice for customers concerned about safety.

💡 Bottom Line: If you only need help addressing one type of pest, Aptive’s comprehensive approach may not be best suited for your needs.

Aptive’s year-round plans focus on retreating throughout the seasons which ensures pests stay away for good and that the treatment methods reflect the actual needs of your home no matter what time of year or what pests are popping up. There are several comprehensive plans that target dozens of different pests which may be appealing to many homeowners who are looking for complete services.

What is Aptive’s lawsuit about?

A few years ago, the company came under scrutiny and eventually legal action stating it had violated a 2019 settlement agreement. The lawsuit claimed that Aptive sales representatives were using aggressive sales tactics trying to sell pest-control services door-to-door without the necessary permits to do so. Also, some customers reported being unable to cancel their service, saying requests to the company were ignored.

Does Aptive really work?

Yes. Aptive’s pest control services work to address pest infestation and keep them at bay when using the recurring treatment plan.
