Fubo Streaming Review – Expensive, But Good for Sports Fans

These days, there’s a streaming platform for every viewer’s taste. Fubo.tv is a popular sports-centered live TV streaming service that offers a wide variety of sports networks, along with plenty of other channels to keep you entertained.

With hundreds of sports channels available to stream 24/7, Fubo is a sports fan’s dream. But, is it worth the steep monthly price?

Fubo – Company Overview

Fubo started out as FuboTV, a live soccer streaming service in 2015. Today, Fubo has evolved into one of the best TV streaming services. Its channel lineup is still focused mainly on sports but also includes an assortment of popular channels from other genres.

In 2020, Fubo landed a deal with Disney, adding ESPN along with other Disney-owned channels like ABC to the platform. But, they lost Turner-owned channels, including CNN, TNT, and TBS.

On April 30, 2024, Fubo lost 19 more networks after failing to reach a deal with Warner Bros. Discovery. Channels like HGTV, TLC, Food Network, Animal Planet, OWN, and the Discovery Channel were removed from the platform.

The company is based in Manhattan and serves all of the United States, Canada, and Spain. Fubo currently has over 1.8 million subscribers.

Why We Like Fubo

Fubo has over 300 live channels, but its main selling point is its huge line-up of sports programming. You can watch games on ESPN, Fox Sports, MLB Network, NFL Network, NBA League Pass, NASCAR, Golf TV, and much more. Regional sports networks are also available to stream so you can keep up with your local teams.

But, Fubo’s channel line-up doesn’t stop at sports. It also includes big-name news networks like ABC, NBC, and Fox along with popular entertainment channels, such as MTV, Bravo, National Geographic, and the Hallmark Channel.

That said, Fubo doesn’t have everything. The service is notably lacking Turner-owned channels like CNN, Cartoon Network, TBS, TNT, and TruTV, as well as Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) and A&E channels, such as the History Channel, A&E, and Lifetime Movie Network.

In addition to live channels, Fubo also has some on-demand content, but it’s limited. Some Fubo plans feature select live events in 4K, but resolution for most programming maxes out at 720p.

However, if you don’t need every sports network under the sun and want to save on your monthly entertainment bill, you should look into comparable, cheaper streaming services like Sling TV or Peacock.
